United Methodist Church of the Covenant actually began in 1976 as a dream of the Metropolitan Board of Missions of the United Methodist Church. In August of 1974 the Metropolitan Board purchased the 4.5 acre site where our building now stands. Reverend Richard Sechrist was appointed in June, 1975 to begin the task of forming a new congregation in South Arlington. The first congregation included 15 persons who met weekly for fellowship and Bible Study at the parsonage. |

We became an official congregation on Covenant Sunday, January 4, 1976. There were 85 Charter Members received on that day. | ||
